Preparing for your order, caring for your quilt, and general quilt resources.

No. Do not cut your shirts. When I receive your shirts, I will measure each one before they are cut to ensure the print will fit in the square size appropriate for your quilt.

You can use t-shirts, sweatshirts, tank tops, and jerseys. It is highly recommended to use only machine washable materials in your quilt if you would like to launder your quilt in the future. Dry clean only materials (like ties or uniforms) can be used, but you would not be able to launder your quilt. Keep these points in mind when selecting the items you'd like to include in your quilt.

Can I use items other than t-shirts in my quilt?

From the time I get your t-shirts, it can take 6 to 8 weeks to complete your quilt. Other factors will also play a role in the time it takes to get your quilt - the time of year (Christmas and graduation may take longer), the size of your quilt and the quilt complexity. Keep in mind that I am a one person shop so it does take a little longer for completion. The quality of work is important to me.

Fabric Suppliers

There are many sources available to find just the right fabric for your quilt. Picking the right fabric adds your own unique touch to the quilt. I recommend the highest quality, 100% cotton fabric. Be cautious when purchasing from discount department stores. When it comes to a quilt investment, it simply isn't worth searching for a low quality bargain if you end up with a thinner, less durable fabric. If you decide to search for your own fabric, please choose wisely. Here are a few of my recommendations.

How do I care for my quilt?

Minky Cuddle Quilt Backing

If all of the shirts in your quilt are machine washable, your quilt can be machine washed in cold water, gentle cycle with a mild detergent. Hang dry or machine dry on the lowest heat setting. A tape roller used for removing pet hair and lint works well for spot cleaning between washes.

If any part of your quilt is NOT machine washable, it should never be placed in the washing machine.

If your quilt was constructed using ultra-soft minky Cuddle backing, fabric softener should not be used when washing your quilt.
